About Me

I'm a 30-something girl shaping my life to be what I've always wanted. I've been incredibly fortunate to have never dealt with any major mental health issues despite both parents having many. I can't believe the luck and take none of it for granted. I hope to reach out to others who may live the same life.

The Big Move

Welcome to the first entry of the blog from the new site. I've chosen to do this because there is quite a bit more potential on this site than on my old blog, both in what can be added and in an aesthetic sense. In the old blog there are many great entries that can be checked out here:

I invite you to be a regular reader. Sometimes the entries are about life, sometimes about my career field.

Today I'd like to add a bit about what I've been up to. I went on a litter pick up walk, and found that roughly 43% of the waste on the side of the road on a 10 minute walk was recyclable.

The break down looks like this: I went out with the dreaded plastic bags that I have been accumulating at home, and gathered garbage along the road as I was walking into work. I gathered 3.5 bags total. 1.5 of those were recyclable items, the rest were garbage. There was also a significant amount of larger plastic and cardboard that did not fit into bags that I just carried. I did not count that in my calculations, however, the cardboard is also recyclable and that type of plastic was not, so it would nearly cancel out anyway.

The not so big shock was that most of this waste was composed of food containers of some sort. If I had to guess, I'd say...95% or so came from a food or beverage product, all of which was of the junk food variety. Makes you think.

Thanks for reading, and again, feel free to check out my old blog entries at the link above. I had thought about copy/pasting, but most likely will leave it up to the reader, or possibly add a section into the main page.
